► Campaigns

The Education campaigns that we run over the course of this year base largely on what you the students ask us to do. If you want us to campaign for lower fees then we’ll do our best, if you think we should have anonymous marking of assessments within the university then let us know and we’ll lobby them on your behalf. The important issues to you are what we work towards as a Union!!

Previous years campaigns have included Exam Stress and  Students in the Red, amongst other initiatives.

The campaigns we already have planned for this year are some local campaigns and also some national campaigns that Unions across the country are all working towards.

Around March/April we will be running an Exam Stress and Plagiarism awareness campaign in conjunction with the Welfare team. This focuses on being aware of despite the fact that you are under pressure, there’s always a solution rather than resorting to plagiarism. You may feel stressed by don’t throw away your university career by plagiarising. For more information on plagiarism or exam stress, pop into the SOAP centre and talk to either Kayleigh or Steven.

We are having a poll in Welcome Week about what the biggest issue for students is, and that is what the Education department will campaign on. What are your concerns? For example we’ll be asking about…

Anonymous marking of assignments (mark my words…not my name…) and is it useful?

Exam feedback and whether you think it would be useful to get feedback on exams?

Do you think your feedback should be handwritten or typed?

Should you have the option of verbal feedback sessions as well as the written feedback as standard?

Do you think every module across the University should have handbook with a seminar list and reading list if relevant?

Kayleigh will be asking these questions at the Recruitment Hub so come along and have some input!

Kayleigh and Steven will also be running a REDucation campaign over the year which is part of the national Funding Our Future campaign run by NUS. For more NUS info please see: http://www.nus.org.uk/en/Campaigns/Funding-Our-Future-/

There will be more info on REDucation coming soon, including information on how you can get involved and make a difference.
