1. Discuss it with your personal tutor/lecturer/course leader
2. Consider whether there were any circumstances that effected you, that you should have told the University in advance
3. Consider whether you think the assessment was carried out in a way that was fair and in the way that it had been explained to you by your tutor/lecturer or in your course handbook.
Once you have received your mark you have Ten Days to request that, the Board of Examiners, who agreed the grade, examine the process and the grades again and review their decision.
• extenuating circumstances that couldn’t be made known before the assessment took place
• a procedural irregularity in the way any part of the assessment was carried out
• evidence of prejudice/bias in marking or an error in calculating or recording marks.
• the quality of teaching (this should be raised as a complaint, preferably before the assessment)
• you simply disagree with the mark
If you are not sure whether you have grounds for requesting a review, contact the Advice Service based in the Student Support Centre:

The University’s regulations give full details of all of the different stages in the appeal process. (This document will be available soon).
We recommend that you seek guidance through the appeal process from the Advice Service.
