MAPS is a group for Mature And Postgraduate Students to meet up, socialise and have fun. Our aim is to provide a community of friendly faces you can meet outside your course, to support your experience at the university. MAPS membership is free of charge and open to anyone who is a Mature Student, or who is registered as a Postgraduate Student.
Our current members are at various stages of studying and belong to a wide range of age groups, including mature undergraduate students, and all sorts of postgraduate students (from taught Masters to PhDs).
There are lots of chances to get involved as we run many events, both during the day and in the evening, during semesters and holidays. We have several regular, weekly events, but we also organise more sporadic events – if there is something you would like MAPS to do, please suggest it!
We meet every Wednesday in the Atrium of the Main Administrative Building for lunch from 12-2. This is probably the best to come and introduce yourself, to meet other MAPS and to find out what we have planned. We sit in the corner underneath the Minerva head and there will be a sunflower on our table to make us nice and easy to spot.
We also do a weekly pub quiz and meet up at the weekend for tea and cake and sometimes we go out for meals or drinks. At every MAPS event we will bring the sunflower to make us easy to find.
For more information about our events please join us on blackboard (log into blackboard and look for the Mature and Postgraduate Students Community) or come along to one of our events and introduce yourself.
