Welcome to the Gaelic Football Club's website, here you will find all information about the club, the sport and everything connected. You might not have heard of Gaelic Football before, click on 'Gaelic?' to go to the website's part on the sport and it's origin/ rules.

We train twice a week and work hard on developing skills, getting fitter and better as a team to be able to win league games, tournaments and compete in the British Nationals. Click on 'Training' to find out about our training sessions or on 'Events' to find out about our other events throughout the year. We are not restricted to playing only Gaelic. Due to the nature of Gaelic football, the sport attracts good athletes from both a football and rugby background.

Formed in 2006 the team competed in the busa Nationals in London in February 2007. September 2007 saw us enter the league for the first time in only our second year of existence. Finishing second from bottom of the table was not considered a bad result when put in context with the teams inexperience.  In February 2008 we competed again in the Nationals this time held in Birmingham. The 07/08 season also saw the team meet up to play 7's rugby on a number of occasions, with some of the university rugby players lending a hand. And last year, we went to Birmingham once more for the Nationals where we ended third of our group, and just missing a spot in the finals. Not to bad for a 3 year old team though. Our numbers are growing every year, and our potential and strength is also growing each year. We are confidently looking forward to the new season.

Walkabout, the Australian themed bar on the high street, provide the team with food after every Wednesday training session, and every Sunday league game. They not only sponsor the team with discounted food (20% off), drink (£1.50 pints etc) but have also provided us with training garments.

There is a variety of ability throughout the squad, with fellas who've played all their lives, to students who fancied doing something different since coming to university. The game can be picked up quite easily and everyone, even those who do find the game a challenge, maintain its a highly enjoyable sport.

New Players Always Welcome. No Experience Necessary.
