    ► Events & Socials

    Freshers week:
We will have a stall up on Wednesday 23th of September in the Engine Shed. This day is crucial to the survival of the club, as it is when we recruit our new players. All members are expected to turn up and help in the search for new talent. It is a day to be enjoyed, with all clubs and societies out and socialising with one another. It must be stressed however, that this is our primary method of fielding a team, so every effort must go towards signing up as many names as possible.

    Pre Season Tournament:
Hosted by Nottingham University, this will involve Lincoln and Sheffield Hallam. Its possible it will take place on Saturday the 27th of September or Saturday 4th of October. The idea is to provide both new and returning players with some match practice before the league begins.
Its possible Nottingham will put food on after the tournament, and maybe the presentation of a trophy to the winning team.

    Rennes Tournament:
That's right, a Gaelic Football tournament in France. Cost is about £1000 per team and we are limited to bringing 15 people (its 13 a side). The cost incudes coach, ferry (generally all tansportation) and accomodation.
The date is 18th of October, leaving on the 17th and returning on the 19th (its a weekend).

    British Nationals:
Birmingham, 13th to 15th of February 2009. It was held in Birmingham in Feb 2008, and London in Feb 2007.
This is the final organised Gaelic of the season, allowing the team to compete nationally. It is also another opportunity for the club to go away for a weekend or so, one last time before the end of the year.
This cost previously was approx. £65, including transport and accommodation for two nights. Unlike the Rennes tournament, there is no limit as to how big or small a squad we can bring, that decision is left up to the committee.

    AU Awards:
Usually takes place around April/May time. These are the annual athletic union awards to be distributed to people or teams who've made great progress over the course of their season.
All clubs and societies are usualy present.
This is a black-tie event and features live entertainment and food. Tickets are around £30 a head.

The details of all these events will be updated as and when information becomes available. So please make sure you check back often.

    Socials:
We meet every Wednesday after training at Walkabout where we start out night with a free meal. Its good to get those stomachs lined before the drink starts to flow!
