Your Students’ Union are behind an initiative to bring sexual health services to the University of Lincoln.
From September, a sexual health screening service will be available from the University Health Centre, based on the Brayford Campus. The sessions will run for 3 hours on a Thursday afternoon (suggested 2pm until 5pm but subject to change). Students can telephone for the health centre between 1:30pm and 4:30pm Wednesdays for appointments and enquiries,
The service is being run by an initiative between the Students’ Union, Lincoln Department of Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) and the University Health Centre. The service is free and completely confidential.
Money from next years SU budget has been allocated to pay for the service (plus training of necessary staff). Current Education and Welfare Officer, Mike Beddoes, thought of the idea for GUM provisions on campus after visiting the GUM Clinic 10 while researching an article for Bullet.
“The staff up there were fantastic and reassuring, but the only drawback is that I would have found it really hard to get to if I had not been able to drive. Keeping in mind that most students don’t have their own transport, this could be a major reason why people don’t bother to get tested”.
The Students’ Union would again like to thank the University Health Centre and the Lincoln Department of GUM.
