► Irish Summer Trip 2008

Q.1   Do I need a passport?

A. YES YES YES  >>> Recent change in EU law.

Q.2.  What is the currency?

A.  In Ireland we have the Euro and you will need to change your £ sterling into Euros before we go.  Airports give rubbish rates and are to be avoided at all times.

Q.3.  Will food be supplied?

A.  For the 7 days in Bundoran, each house will have a food budget of £15 each day.  For the 3 days after Bundoran food will not be catered for.  However on the last night of the trip a 3 course meal will paid for to celebrate the end of the holiday.

Q.4.  Will it be cold?

A.  When the Sun is out you will be wearing your shorts and when the clouds are out, you will be wearing trousers.  Rain isn't out of the question and this year we are going in June which has a better rainfall average than May.  In fact is it almost twice better!  Getting a tan is certainly plausable in where we are going, and we recommend you pack some sunblock.  June is the start of the Summer in Ireland so prepare your boardshorts!

Q.5.  Are there limited places?

A.  Yes there is but only to those without boards.  An allocation of 8 begineers is booked, but this may extend to 10 if we get the demand.  However if we have successful fund raisers our allocation could double.

Q.6.  Will I need to be good to surf Bundoran?

A.  The beach is HUGE as you can see from the picture and friendly to beginneers.  These beach is called, 'Tullan Strand.'  Bundoran also has another beach for surfing called 'the Peak' which is often better for Advanced surfers, but can offen invite begineers if the conditions favour them.

Q.7.  What happends if it is FLAT?

A.  This year we will have transport in location so we will be able to visit other beaches that will offer us a swell.  Also having transport will also allow us to visit places of interest too.  Many secrets planned for the trip will only be revealed on the eve of the secret happening.

Q.8.  What's with all the secrecy?

A.  As Ireland is a place of mystery and adventure our trip will reflect this and you will just have to wait for the surprises that are up this year's trip's sleeve!!!

Q.9.  Is there anything else that comes with the price?

A.  Each member that comes on the trip will get an exclusive personalised 2008 tour shirt.  Also included are secret events that will occupy a half day or a complete day! 

Q.10.  Do we need our own wetsuit?

A.  Yes, as you will be wearing it up to 3 times a day.  Hiring is an option, but the price for the trip may pay for a new suit.  Also Bundoran has 2 surf shops, which often have wetsuit sales.  So don't worry if you have one at the last minute as there are options available to you.  Check out our own surf shop for a good deal.

Q.11.  Do you have any more information on Bundoran?

A.  Well you can start searching yourself... but here are some of my comments... it's nickname for surfers is Fundoran, as it's a pearl of a place.  Not to mention all the Amusements and Rides that are there.  In fact getting the bus into the town, the driver doesn't shout, 'Bundoran,' but 'VEGAS!' 

The beach is amazing and a place you would think you have to travel to Australia to get the same scene, but don't take my word for it... check out this video of Tullan Strand, and at the end you will get a glimpse of the PEAK.

 Not to mention there is a club night EVERY BLOODY night, and has loads of bars, clubs and pubs from a contempary setting to ones from the 1800's!!!!  Also the Sun sets in the West, which will make Sun down around 11PM, and then the stars will come out in a place where the words 'light pollution' are the stories of a place far away. 

With mountains as the backdrop to the beach, you know you are in a special place, and what a way to enjoy the sites, by padding out on your board.
