This Travel Guide is for those booked on to the next Surfing Trip:
Towel, anti-perspirant/deodorant, shower gel, bar of chocolate and a drink for when you come out of the water. A packed lunch will be gold to you on the return journey home so do pack something. Trust me you’ll appreciate having these things. The bus journey will be around 2 hours if we hit traffic, so bring some reading material or music, whichever you think will help.
If you get travel sickness, please let us know and bring some travel sickness pills. Also if you wear glasses, you can surf with contact lenses on. We have several members that regularly surf with them in and they work magic.
Do have breakfast and preferably hot too, but don’t eat or drink too much on the bus, especially as your will be doing exercise in water. They simply do not mix well and we won’t have the opportunity to stop for a toilet as there is not one service station on the way there.
We will be meeting near the library, where the concrete benches are beside the mini round about, opposite the little security guard box. Don’t’ worry you’ll see us before you get there, unless you really are the early bird.
We are meeting at 9.45AM… the bus is due to set off at 10am sharp, so make sure you leave enough time to get there.
This will make sure we are out of the bus and into wetsuits in the quickest time possible and get into the sea sooner rather than later. This is a requirement, especially to beginners:
Oh and when we get back we usually go for a drink in the Engine Shed to relax and socialise after the day. Don’t worry we usually only stay for one drink, play some pool and then let the evening take it’s path. After all our social night is the Thursday after every trip!
Try not to have a heavy one on Saturday night as we cannot refund the transport fee if you don’t make it. Just to remind you to bring £5 for your wetsuit and board, or £2 if you have a wetsuit or board or if you have both you don’t have to pay a penny more.
Also check the weather as if its cold: wetgloves, wetboots and wet hoods are £1 each are recommended.
Boots for all year around, gloves for winter and hoods for when the temperature is less than 10 degrees C and rain is on the forecast.
It’s going to be an exciting day and look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
